Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi is facing legal troubles in India and France over alleged patent infringement. The smartphone maker has been sued over the LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) technology, which the Sun Patent Trust claims Xiaomi has been using in its 4G smartphones since late 2018 without proper licensing.
Sun Patent Trust is a Delaware-based company that owns over 3,000 former Panasonic patents. The company says it has been trying to negotiate a licensing deal with Xiaomi for over four years without success. The suits, filed by Sun Patent Trust, have a combined value of over $300 million (around Rs 24,978 crores).
