Chisinau, May 1 /MOLDPRES/ – Moldova State University (USM) and Technical University of Moldova (UTM) could merge. The issue was discussed at a meeting of the Council of Rectors. Attending the event, Prime Minister Dorin Recean said that such a consolidation transforms the image of the university sector.
The initiative to unite the efforts of the two universities came from the institutions’ rectors, who argued the decision by the need to strengthen the educational sector and be more competitive both within the country and internationally.
