Irish sailor Eve McMahon has retained her U21 World Championship title in Viana Do Costello in Portugal.
A clear winner with a race to spare, McMahon took the championship 30 points ahead of her closest competitors – Evie Saunders of Australia and Ginevra Caracciolo Di Brienza of Italy.
She had a very strong week, making it hard for her competitors to come close. She maintained low scores throughout the competition, finishing five of her races with first positions. The racing was tough, with varying winds and strong tides for the competitors to sail against all week.
